Free Premium Membership and my statsWell I am a winner of this event, at least I can measure it in numbers. As I am always a Premium member, these rare events do not really a thing for me, but now it was something new. Free Premium Membership Day gave me a visitor boost and I tell you how:
Yesterday afternoon I noticed I got more favs and comments on my Custom Box Background generator app, than usual. Every time I visited my messages I had new favs, comments even watches (and same people watched me who faved the app... by the way: hello new watchers. I am happy about you guys )
It seems lot of people used their Free Premium Membership Day for customize their profile, and from mentions and searches they landed on my app. It shows in Google Analytics too:
See that huge spike at the right end? That is 7th April. Free Premium Membership Day means people want to learn, how to customize their profile and they find my solution.
I know it isn't a big num
About my Car modelWell for months now I trying to model this Ferrari Type 555 Super Squalo based on blueprint. I am really inexperienced in modelling. First 2-3 tries was stared with a cylinder as this car basically that: a cylinder. Then I watched some tutorials and I seen lot of methods how people make cars.
Finally I started it with a single plane. I cut that in half and mirorred it, so I just had to fight with one side of the car. When the body was finished I created a wheel with arrays and curves (learned from a tutorial again), got a shiny car material. This successful try was 6 hours of my life.
The model isn't that good, but I really think it is a milestone in modeling for me. If you are interested you can check out it in sketchfab (the model itself, no textures). You can find lot of problems with the mesh. Keep in mind this is really my first car model.
Google Analytics and youNSA spying on Google, yes. But Google does not allow this, not happy about it. Also NSA is not spying on you personally. Also they spying on the whole network. So whatever?
Google only shows anonymous data. Anyone who uses Analytics only sees data like what browser you use, when the visit happened, where you use the internet (on city level at best). It not even gives out your IP address.
by the way. This is your ip address: On the other hand Google may know who you are IF you are logged in to Google. But that is still data you gave them on your own. These data aren't public. You can only see your statistics. Nobody else, even deviantART has no means to check you analytics data on others profile.
It doesn't steal your data, your images. It has nothing to do with the Search engine and even the search engine only links to your images, and it does not save them. Most of the websites you visit uses Google Analytics
Not 2D not 3D... it is 2.5DSo yesterday and today I managed to learn a technique I had almost all knowledge to use, I just needed a little push. It called parallax animated photo. I think. The point is I make video from a single photo.
First I created this. I overdone it a little with the smoke. The problem is I couldn't make realistic cigarette smoke right now, and because of the smoke it was 8 hours of rendering. And not even the smoke was the important but the moving effect... oh yeah I done that in 10 minutes.
And today I made this. In this the movement is perfectly show what this technique is all about. You can find the original still image here:
So I have a new skill I want to use in the future. This requires lot of practice in photoshop and blender too. Fun times
So I done things that I will not submit to dA
First this Metal Gear Rising "fan art". I like this sentence from him, and I thought this image of him is perfect for political flyer... I would vote for him based on this. But it really think this is only a concept at best, I am not a designer capable of draw him myself (I hate using screen cap from the game). Still I think it worth a mention, maybe someone do this for real, drawing Armstrong and the flag too with better style.
This one is my first fully working fluid simulation. I started to get how fluid simulation works in Blender. I rendered this as a test. The bullet is simply animated, there is nor real physics in its movement, but it is a fluid obstacle object so the water simulator counted it in. You can watch it in better resolution here: http://youtu.be/18TABgKVy5g
Also I have an extreme short fluid simulation video too. It is more interesting concept, but there
Journal to make my profile not pinkBecause V day is over and that skin only works that day.

Or play this:
You can even send this as a V card here on dA. DO IT. OR RUN!
I surprised myselfI know this isn't good, not realistic and not human at all. But I made this without watching any reference. It was a good practice. I didn't know I am capable of this detail with sculpturing in Blender.
And I even managed to make a decent metallic cycles material without any tutorial. The render is noisy because it was 100 samples.
I will practice sculpturing more after this.
More 3D stuff I do not upload hereAt least not in my gallery.
In the last two days I created two images in Blender.
This was my yesterday project:
This is another failed image that became Facebook cover. The concept was making something photorealistic and sad. I improvised this one. At a certain point I lost my interest, but finished it with composition, and sizing so it made for Facebook cover (for example I kept in mind my profile picture will be on the left, so I left space there).
And today I started to create a snow crystal:
Now this is a WIP. I am not sure I will finish it, but I want to make a better texture for it, and create a background material. This is hard to do. It is good enough to show it though.

I like doing these when I'm offline for a while. It's my way of apologizing for not keeping my promises to be more active. I'm trying! Thank you to those who continue to support me. It really is great having a backbone of support on devART-- especially when you're in a college full of super talented art MAJORS X'D I'm just a journalist major who really loves writing about her characters and occasionally drawing them.
There are two requirements, as always!
1) Be a watcher.
2) Favorite this journal.
*Otherwise, no rules. If you want to post a comment though, I'd love to talk to you! On a side note, I'm now on the MMO Final Fantasy 14! It's so pretty
And I did a thing! For the first time in forever
And then I returned...It's been a while since I've been actively online.
But even though temporary, it did changed my perspective on some matters.
It's weird how much the internet can become an influence, and how this process goes so unnoticed. At a certain point the countless voices of people around you blend into a continuous buzz. A buzz that you soon get so familiar with that you forget there was a life before it. I guess that's what social media does in general; creating a buzz. An artificial need for you to continuously be online and check your messages, because you might just miss something otherwise. Life, in general, has become so infused with the internet that it sometimes scares me. I'm part of the internet industry. Hell, I even made it my job! But even I sometimes find myself wondering where the time has gone that I could work on an artwork for hours straight, without feeling that creeping itch to check my messages.
The last few weeks before the break, I've repeatedly felt bad about

We Are Resurrecting!:iconwriters-workshop:
Following our previous journal on our zombifiction revival, I am pleased to say it is crazy enough to have a go! I don’t expect every one of our 1500 members to get involved, but even if there is a handful each time getting some good out of this, then that’s one handful getting a better attack on their writing and understanding their niches. These groups hold a great opportunity to explore and stretch even the more experienced writers, and I believe that’s what made this group so good to begin with.
The Plan Batman
So here is my plan.
In May, we will hold a new workshop. The entire workshop will be encapsulated in one month: 2 weeks to write, 2 weeks to workshop.
Week 1, Day 1: Workshop brief is launched and you have 2 weeks to submit. The standard to what you submit can be anything from a rough draft to something you have worked on, it doesn't even have to be complete yet. (Please ensure you pu
3D Camera TrackingToday I learned this. Camera tracking. Basically it is a very simple thing. I select points on the first frame of the video, Blender tries to track those points. After that it sets up a 3D environment for the video. Aaaand it is really good in tracking.
This is my first attempt:
As you can see I used my Sburb logo for this little test. The reason for that it is much better than the Blender monkey head. The low poly count helps me to render it fast. I am really happy with this, one of my best "first attempts".
Abandoned ChapelThe parish waits now,
the loneliness of corners
crawling outward on walls--
chipped away by the wind,
and held together
by silk spindles;
cobwebs align them like the membranes of memories,
the cut of a jewel in an broken window
against the sun
where beads of rain
gather in a mesh of strands
a new Mosaic
against the backdrop of a cemetery;
My eyes seek out the sermon
in close proximity,
paint no distance
between headstone and cloud;
elegies topple each other
in their climb to heaven
as light trickles
over the shade,
breathes a new glow over snuffed candles.
I feel the weight in these empty rows,
how a breath couldn't cease to be breath
in the midst of prayer.
