Base64 encoded images To making profile (and other) pages load faster, it would be a good idea to place the base64 encoded image in all img tag when browser is Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari or any other modern browser like this:

img src="data:image/png;base64
,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAyadayadayada....."

This way browser shouldn't have to load all the images one by one making requests and making profile page's loading time slower. This would be especially good on profiles that have multiple high resolution featured images and features images of others by thumb code in journal. Not to speak about friend list widget with lot of small avatar images.

Funny that I never wanted to change my username here, because I had so much brain power 7 years ago to use my own name. It was a bright moment in an era when I used a ridiculous nickname everywhere else. I only changed my email address in these years and now I am happy with that too.

But I see people will like this feature. And it is solved very well. It protects your old user name, it protects all the links to your work and profile (so you don't have to start over SEO for your dA account), and it have strict rules that prevent mass name changes. Well done dA, well done!

I wish that Twitter would work like this. That would be nice.
